Apple confirmed this morning that the Vision Pro will be available in the US from February 2nd.

The company was rightly dramatic in a statement released this morning. “The age of the space computer has come,” said Tim Cook. “Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever developed. The revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine the way we connect, create and explore.”

At launch, the new Vision Pro App Store will offer “over a million” compatible iOS and iPadOS apps, as well as experiences designed specifically for the expensive new headset. However, it remains to be seen how many customized Vision Pro apps will be available when the device hits the market in just under a month.

Apple Note “” Players can access games on the App Store, including over 250 titles in Apple Arcade. Blockbuster games like NBA 2k24 Arcade Edition and Sonic Dream Team can be played on as big a screen as you like, with awesome sound and support for popular game controllers. New space games, including a game room, what is golf?, and Super Fruit Ninja, use the powerful capabilities of Apple Vision Pro to transform the space around the players.”

When it comes to proprietary software, a FaceTime experience designed specifically for the new hardware will also be introduced at launch. Apple once again: “FaceTime on Apple Vision Pro uses the space around you to make all communicative people seem life-size, while spatial audio gives the impression that each person’s voice comes from the position of their thumbnail.”

At the start, the company will also offer Zeiss optical inserts. The lenses snap magnetically to the helmet.

The launch also marks the arrival of VisionOS, Apple’s latest operating system designed specifically for the new hardware. Apple notes,

VisionOS offers powerful space experiences and opens up new opportunities at work and at home. With a brand new three-dimensional user interface and an input system completely controlled by the user’s eyes, hands and voice, the navigation is magical. Intuitive gestures allow users to interact with apps by simply looking at them, tapping with their fingers to select, scrolling with their wrist, or typing with a virtual keyboard or dictation. Siri allows users to quickly open or close apps, play media files and much more.
